So this happened: Last night I let each boy have a teaspoon of ham gravy over their kibble for dinner. After dinner Tim and I were sitting on the futon in the dining nook where the boys eat. Gobie came running in with his favourite hedgie but dropped it halfway across the room and stared. He did this six or eight times. I kept telling him I couldnt throw it unless he brought it all the way to me. Finally--after much face pointing--he made it clear that he was trading his hedgie for another portion of the ham gravy that was cooling on the stove. It WAS cute but Im more than a little bothered by the fact that my dog has worked out a system of barter and has therefore a better grasp of basic economics than many politicians.
