So this happened today. Im at our Corpus office this week. In one of my 14 meetings (ok, slight exaggeration...it just felt like that...) Im talking with another healthcare manager about what we need to do to perform better in this market. She comments that one of her challenges is that there is such a strong Mexican influence here. Me: stunned silence. After I few seconds, I say: you know where Mexico is, right? She says: well, yeah Me: I dont think you really do. Its right THERE pointing to the south wall of the building. You can skip a rock from here to Mexico. If you stand on the hood of your car, you can SEE Mexico. Her: well.... Getting uncomfortable... Me: plus, where youre standing belonged to Mexico for a REALLY long time. So, yeah, there is a strong Mexican influence. Duh. I think everybody has accounted for that already. Her: yeah, but, its a challenge... Me: now pretty fired up. Thats kinda like standing in Australia and saying the problem here is that theres a strong British influence. Really? Her: ok, get your point. Me: Really. Its right THERE. I doubt I closed that deal. Shoulda shut up, I guess.
