So, this is getting a lot of press and Im going to try not to believe that its entirely because people like to hate on anyone who they perceive to be falling prey to a trend. I like this science because it backs up things Ive believed about my own issues, but also because I like any scientist who tries to disprove his own already acclaimed work. But heres what: if you read this article, you need to remember the following: a) celiac disease is still a thing b) legitimate gluten allergies are still a thing c) even if you know someone who considers themselves gluten sensitive according to this research their life just got harder, not easier - because 1. they are likely sensitive to FODMAPS which are in everything (including traditional baked products, but also gluten free products and half your vegetables) or 2. because even if its all in their head, psychosomatic effects have a real impact on your health, and are impacted by things like stress and social supports (which are difficult to fix when people are acting judgemental about your food choices). Short version: yes, lets read the science. But primarily, lets eat simpler, make more of our own food, support each other in our quest for health and give others the benefit of the doubt to know whats best for them.
