So, this is how this started. For those of you who dont know me, lets just say Ive had a bit of a problem driving past certain distances for about 2 years now. So, yesterday was my Dads funeral, and I had to drive out of my comfort zone in really bad traffic to get to the services and cemetery. I did it, because I had to, simple as that. So my friend Chris asked me if I wanted to meet her at the Woolley market early this morning. On the way there, I thought to myself on a whim that after our visit, I would see how far I could get towards Eastern Washington. Eastern Washington....where I dream about and long for, and have missed the smells, sights, and sounds of this amazing place for far too long. A place where I someday hope to live. So, I said to Chris, Hey, ya wanna go with me to see if I can get over the pass? She jumped right in, we got some provisions, and started our drive. It turns out that we make excellent driving buddies! Not only did we make it close, we made it all the way over! We did a bit of harvesting....ponderosa pine pitch and cones, and a bit of sage......tasted some rosehips, crunched up some red root leaves to smell their spicy aroma. To say that I was in bliss is an understatement. I was so giddy for a while that I had to just sit on the ground and look. And Smell. I feel like I was set free from a prison today. Grateful!!!
