So this is my customized 1/32 Mobius Cylon raider. So far Ive scratchbuilt the cockpit, added extra greeblies for details to the body and lighting. All told, Ive added 32 leds to the model. 10 leds to each engine. It consist of 5 white flickering 5mm 16,000 mcd and 5 white 10mm 280,000 mcd. Next was adding 2 yellow 3mm 10,000 mcd navigation lights. 10 blue 3mm 10,000 mcd for the cockpit. The biggest pain was the lighting of the engines. Without spending some overpriced lighting kit for 75 bucks etc, I managed to spend 25 bucks of leds on ebay for the same thing. Getting the right amount of leds, placement and achieving the glow of the engines took some time to develope. All the leds are run on 12volts. For now Im using 8 double As but I have a 12volt battery pack coming. The batteries are self contained in the ship. The on/off switch is located underneath the ship mounted on the removable cover. Even though the ship is sealed, I kept the wiring neat and clean. Less chance of a issue if you have initial problems or such which I did not. Plus something I developed when I use to do car stereo install for 20 years. Next step is adding the stripes, top coat and weathering. I made 3 seats and scratchbuilt 3 cylons to go in the cockpit once its painted. Im filing out the openings on the stock louvers for the cockpit. Youll be able to see the glow then from inside. Plus ill be building a custom base which will be lit, sound with motion activation. Theres about 13 pics to see. :)
