So this is very rare that I make a public notice or rant about something but this involves the safety of our Keiki that attend Kealakehe Elementary School... This morning at 7:45am I was leaving my home in Kealakehe area andas I approached the Palani Rd. intersection I saw a little boy running down the sidewalk hysterically crying in fear... Of course as a mama I started to look for a parent around them and realized he was alone... He at that point made it around the intersection heading down palani as I was stuck at the light. I caught up with him and got out of my car to get him and take him back to the school.... As I got him to calm down, he tried to explain that his daddy dropped him off and he was running to look for him... (he is 6 years old) I take him into the office and the employee just treats it as if its super minor and begins to take him to class, rather then taking him into a counselor to calm him and teach him about how that was not ok to walk out by the street and what he should do instead, and CALL THE PARENTS! >>WTF??? This has been a concern for me all the years of living infront of the school... WHY IS THERE NO SUPERVISION TO KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE?!?! This is a large campus with over a thousand elementary students, they are free to roam the open campus with minimal supervision and guidance and my children as well as friends children have witnessed or been victim of bullying (because of no supervision). I called the police today to report this whole incident BUT if you are a parent of a child at Kealakehe Elem. and you feel that there needs to be more supervision and safety.... Then let your voice be heard tonight at open house 530-630PM
