So, this may start an argument...but while scrolling through Instagram, I came across an obese womans profile who is an advocate for positive body image. Though I dont know her personally, I assume its not a medical issue that causes her to be so large. Now, Im all for being body positive, and loving yourself. Especially after Milo, Im not 100% comfortable in my own skin yet. I have just a little ways to go before Im back to my pre-baby size. Im almost a little jealous when a larger woman can be comfortable in whatever she wants to wear and even when Im not close to that size, Im still self contious. So more power to them. BUT, using the whole Im a role model for overweight children, I love my curves, who says what beauty is, big is beautiful as a way to justify being obese and unhealthy, really annoys me. Even when its not a beauty standard issue, it should be a health issue. Its not ok to be obese, Ive never been tiny...Im not a size 0. But Im not unhealthy big. And I will never let my children think that their size doesnt matter. Children should be taught to be healthy, not taught that being obese is ok. Having a positive body image should consist of loving yourself for your shape yes, but while practicing healthy habits. Not by being lazy and pretty much saying eff it, I love meno matter how big I get, pass the chips. I dont have much else to say, I just cant agree with teaching people especially young children that its ok to not want to take care of yourself...
