So this morning didnt go as planned. You tried to stay calm, but the kids dawdle too much...fight you over getting out of bed, eating breakfast, putting their clothes on. Im too tired! School is stupid! This doesnt taste good. Im not hungry! Wheres my one favorite shirt that I wear every single day?! You screamed and lectured and lost it. You ranted about how you didnt do this as a child. You may have said things you didnt mean or pronounced judgments over your kids. You blew it. Good. It happens. Its called imperfection. Now you have a couple options. Beat yourself up all day, which perpetuates the cycle. Or use this as an opportunity. When you see your kids, apologize matter-of-factly. Thats good modeling. Problem solved. What do you guys want to do differently tomorrow morning? What can we all do to make morning less stressful, perhaps even a fun time when we connect AND get ready on time? And finally, what are YOU going to do differently tomorrow morning for yourself...so that no matter what your spouse or kids do, you can lead with calm authority?
