So, this morning my mom came to me and told me that a clerk of court and a sergeant came to her home attempting to get in to SELL her furniture and whatever else she owns because she was not making payments to her loan. My mom went to her files and pulled out ALL her receipts and showed it to them. They promptly leave. After calling the bank, she was casually told by the Manager that he forgot to instruct the teller, who deals with such things, to process the payment that she has been depositing to an account every month, as agreed. Now, people, this is how much these banks give a rats ass about you, and how they disenfranchise and take advantage of Belizeans. They dont care. The fact that an employee was able to siphon $275,000 from Belize Bank and they just managed to catch her, is a testament as to the mismanagement of your money, and how easily it is for you to be ripped off. People, keep receipts for every payment you make to your loans, credit cards, file everything, and query everything. And if you must, hire a lawyer and sue. It is long overdue that our Government start implementing usury laws and truth in lending laws to put a stop to these rapacious, usuries banks that operate as loan sharks. When will enough be enough?!!! Still, the media and the politicians are NOT paying attention to or talking about this extreme epidemic issue in Belize, of Belizeans being disenfranchised...just read your weekly newspaper and see how much foreclosures are in it and climbing.
