So this really messes me up... The kindness of God toward us — despite our questionable motives and choices. Take for example: Judas. The Bible infers that this disciple was self-seeking from early on. John 12:6 says, he even had his hand-in-the-till-drawer of JESUS FINANCES!!! And Jesus foretold beforehand, that His friend Judas would betray Him. Yet, scholars believe that at the Last Supper, Jesus seated Judas at the table — next to Him — on his left. This was THE place for the guest of honor. Only hours later, Judas would sell Jesus out for 30 pieces of silver, and hand Him over with a kiss. Regardless of the fact that Judas was sketchy... Jesus acted in good will toward him — offering him the sop (the dipped bread you gave to someone you loved) right before Judas took off to meet with the executioners. Some call the sop, the bread of reconciliation. WOW! How could you not adore a Lord & Friend who is devoted to Grace... Who is always extending restoration. Im so in love. Just trusting.
