So this will prob be my last post in the 36 pit page.., before I close out, Id like to share a few opinions as to the future... In the forest, there are likely several rain gauges, when those rain gauges reach a certain amount of total precipitation, then the fires status can change. With the weather we have had and the weather we are about to receive, its my opinion that these gauges will soon reach their levels. (Lets just say,... 8) When this happens the fire can be officially called under control. This status change allows for some things to end, and some new things to start. Very little of this will be visible or noticed. When the fire is under control the containment percentage may automatically go to 100%. (Finally, you all say...). our fire will be under control and your containment will be at 100%... And yet....when will it all open...? I dont know...because as I have said before, none of this really has anything to do with the fire being out or the roads opening up. Forest access will be determined by its stewards, public safety and the needs of the forest will continue to be more important than the wants of the people. It may be some time...there maybe systemic changes... The highway banks continue to slide and will continue to be a problem for a while... Once the forest opens up and you all go head in for look-abouts, please continue to be careful, widow makers, burned out stump and root holes, falling rocks, and snags will still be present. Next year, when burning is stopped and the flags go up, please be alert for the terms red flag and east wind this is when we generally see our most volatile fire conditions... This is our clue to be vigilant. You are all probably aware of the communities new group page, Estacada Neighborhood Watch and Community Safety...Jake and I and about 365 good people from this page welcome you to join us there. Thats about it, time for pumpkin lattes, turkey dinners, and blowing leaves... I want to once again thank the moderators of this page for doing a great job in unusual circumstances...Be safe.
