So, those opposed to fracking for Natural gas suggest that we should do more renewables such as solar and wind. Well here is an interesting thought for those who believe that those sources are clean and environmentally friendly. The minerals used to produce them are known as rare earth minerals and largely come from china, about 90% presently are mined there. Why would we want to place our energy future in the hands of china when we have independence under our feet? For those who say they want to protect the earth and our water supplies, is it ok to rape the earth in china just because you cannot see it from your house? Did you know mining rare earth minerals is massively polluting the environment and that does affect us. The fact is Fracking for natural gas has been going on for over 60 years and is safe with little to no major impact on the environment and is 70% cleaner when used for the production of electricity than coal. We need to embrace this gift and the jobs that it will bring to this country and My State of North Carolina. Wise up people, stop drinking the koolaid and pull your head out of your butts! :)
