So, those who know me well know that I do not jump into anything head first without extensive research anymore. Once upon a time, I did, & I have since lived & learned about impulsivity, especially when I have other lives depending on me. So, when all of this stuff about essential oils started popping up, I didnt jump on the bandwagon. I honestly considered it to be kind of witch doctory and dangerous. And then I started seeing news & medical programs about the benefits of them, so I started researching. Quite a bit. And then people I know & trust started talking about the benefits. Having kids in a day & age when modern medicine cant keep up with all of the new illnesses & conditions going around, putting my kids on antibiotics & steroids more than once a year scares me. Alas, when all of the research & reading I was doing was resulting in much more positive than negative reviews & the medicinal benefits alone seemed worth giving it a try, I did so. Having 3 dogs & a cat under one roof, I immediately started researching pets & oils. There are things you have to be very careful of & stay away from, but if you are careful & informed, there are major benefits for them as well. There are vets who use them instead of traditional meds. It makes sense that dogs & cats can benefit from aromatherapy, their sense of smell is much more keen than humans. Which is also why you have to be careful when using oils around them. Tonight, I put a couple of drops of peace & calming & a couple of drops of lavender in the girls bath. I usually put the gate up to keep Macs from drinking their bath water, but I forgot when I ran out to grab my phone. I caught him almost immediately & got him out of the bathroom, but I was worried & watched him closely. He has been the most laid back, calm dog all night, & this is when he usually gets his energy spurts. Not tonight. He wants to munch on his bone & cuddle. He only got up to eat & go to the bathroom. Although I will be more conscious in the future, I seriously think I am in love. Both girls sleeping peacefully right after I tucked them in. I. Am. Amazed.
