So, today I had a client who comes in full of scars and skin grafts and serious bodily deformation on one side. Before the treatment I ask if any of the areas hurt during a therapeutic massage. The man replied: No. Wishing to know more, before I touched him I asked how he got the scars. His reply: I got blown up in Afghanistan. Thats when I noticed a Royal Marines Commander Tattoo. My heart clinched and, as I felt tears coming on, I carried out the treatment in more silence than usual; feeling sorrow for the suffering this man endured, for the damaged caused to a human being for the sake of power, wealth and greed. Then I thought about all the suffering we have in the world at the moment for the sake of a handful of people.... because really ... it is only a handful of greedy, power-stricken people compared to the 7 billion human beings that we are on this planet. On this mans way out, I said: Im sorry for everything you went through. His reply: Its just a job. That, for me, sums it all up ... all the suffering in the world happens because someone, somewhere is just doing their job. Love each other, its the only path to peace
