So today, I met a 16 year old panhandler. He wanted to be a rapper. He was trying to sell fruit snack on the train cart I was in to raise money. He wasnt able to get anyone to buy. So I told him, hey, do you want to make an easy dollar? All you have to do is read this paragraph on my book, and this dollar is yours. He looked at me like I was crazy. He said, Why do you want me to read it? I replied, its a free dollar, just read it. He still questioned me. Until a stranger behind me said just read it! He end up reading from my Pharmacology textbook. He went through it smoothly on some part. He struggled to pronounce words like physician, alleviate, and practitioner. When he finished, I gave him the dollar. He looked surprised, and he was curious why I wanted him to read it? I told him, he can pursuit his dream of being a rapper, but education is key to his future.
