So today I was reading Isaiah 31-41. In that section is the story of Hezekiah. His story is what I held on to during Chris cancer battle in 2005-06. Today, for the first time, I saw a cross reference to Jeremiah 18:8-10. Huge a-ha moment. I think as Christians we either want to control our life 100% or 0%. We either run it all or go the other way and refuse to do anything, waiting on God. Like I say at my conferences, God provides me the money to buy eggs but it is my responsibility to cook it and eat it when I am hungry. When I saw these two passages together, I saw the balance. I already had a sense of it, but seeing it plainly articulated gave me the hook to hang my faith on. Maybe some of you will have the same experience.
