So today has gotten off to a totally wonderful start (that was sarcasm). This morning I was stuck in traffic, which didn’t phase me as I don’t have a very busy day. But I looked to my left and of course, I am stuck next to a truck full of pigs. I put down my window and apologized to them and became even more upset as I observed the beautiful creatures closer. Some of them were clearly dead, the rest of them looked exhausted and were covered in sores and black marks. Some of them were fighting as there were dozens of them cramped into this dirty truck. I looked into their eyes and saw defeat and emptiness. The sadness I was feeling soon turned to anger as I approached the cabin of the truck. The driver had his window down so I decided to take this opportunity I had to tell the man exactly how I feel about him exploiting animals. He was very shocked and avoided any further confrontation with me by driving slower. Now he has something to think about for the rest of his journey. I know where their destination is. Those pigs have about an hour before they will have their lives stolen from them. But not before they endure tremendous amounts of pain and torture. How can people watch these animals that are crammed into transportation trucks, knowing that they are on the way to their deaths and not feel anything? Or see this injustice, acknowledge that it is wrong and that it hurts their heart to see, but still willingly support it? Please go vegan and end this madness.
