So today i found out what the weird noise coming from my 80s engine was.. at first i thought a bottom end bearing had let go but on closer inspection i found that the harmonic balancer has a lot of wobble and play on the crank.. my guess is that the key way has sheared off.. anyway im getting it towed into work tomorrow so i can yank the motor out... what would be the better option, get a second hand crank or send this one away and get it built up and machined... anyone had to do this before?? How much coin would i be looking at?? I can all the other labour myself except for any maching..cheers
