So today is officially my last day at MKS, Instruments. I was laid off in a rift due to some changes in the company. I was one of several senior staff was part of the rift and let go, so this is hard, shocking, and totally unexpected. I have great peace from God in the midst of these emotions and my wife has been amazing. How does a man handle this? I am not sure. But without God and my trust in His perfect provision, it would be quite overwhelming. This is the first time in my life I have ever been laid off due to a rift in semiconductor. I have worked for several of these companies before and knew the cyclical trends fairly well. I missed the warning signs, apparently, but I am grateful for the new experience I have gained in doing the Oracle R12 upgrade. So now begins my tasks of updating my resume, updating LinkedIn, Monster, responding to head hunters more proactively, seeking out new websites for job opportunities, and reevaluating my roles that I am willing to work in and do. I do have a skill set that I believe God gave me and I believe He will allow me to use again. For all of the friends who are quick to offer advice, I sincerely appreciate it. Know that I have been in the planning mode since Tuesday for the short term and that has involved a lot of work and discussions. I can only file for unemployment on Monday officially. I cannot do much for COBRA till I get my letter for this. We are being extremely conservative, liberally hopeful, and abundantly confident that this will also work for good because He has eye over us. All prayers are appreciated and requested.
