So today is the 25th anniversary of Tim Burtons Batman. There are a lot of things to appreciate from this great day. 1.) This was the movie that caused the film business to look to comic sources for movie ideas, creating the now-existing Comicbook movie genre. Without this, movies like The Dark Knight, X-Men, Spider-Man, 300, Iron Man, and The Avengers would never have been greenlit. The only movie that came before this were Richard Donners Superman films, but they were based less on the comic books and more on the pop culture icon. 2.) 25 years ago, Michael Keaton introduced the phrase Im Batman!, which has been repeated throughout the Batman franchises, weather good or bad, animated or live-action. 3.) Tim Burtons darker take on Batman caused comic writers to make darker-toned, more emotional comics, in both the Marvel and DC universe, bringing more focus to characters like Blade, Daredevil, Deadpool, and more gritty Wolverine storylines. 4.) 25 years ago, we were introduced to the number 5 most recognizable automobile in the world (The other four were Adam Wests Batmobile, Kitt, The General Lee, and The Bullit Mustang.) Today, let us all be heroes, as only Batman taught us how.
