So today is very much etched in my heart as it is the 5th anniversary of my mothers death.She would be 82 years old and very much alive if I had my choice and my dream. Your dreams dont always come true nor or they always realistic. My parents both died much earlier than I could have ever anticipated especially my father at the age of 54,my current age. I guess with my fathers death at the age of 54 I relied on my mother more.It was no secret to anyone including my mother that I was a daddys girl but there is a certain connection a girl has with her mother ,good or bad ,that she needs with her mother. I often find myself wanting to call her for that much needed information on one of her awesome recipes. My mother was to cooking as the sun is to summer.She cooked 3 meals a day from scratch for my entire childhood.Her cooking was known throughout our home town,Milan, and after moving to Jackson she was also well known for her country cooking.There are many tastes and smells that I will always relate to my dear mother and at certain times of the day when I least expect it when I am talking I hear her voice ever so clearly coming from my mouth.God certainly has a sense of humor. RIP Carolyn Parr Caldwell 4/1/32 to 9/16/2009!
