So todays name is ASH-SHAKOOR - The Appreciative There are some Names/Attributes of Allah that we should strive to embody in ourselves and there are some that we cannot. Ash-Shakoor is one of those that we can strive to develop in our own character, inshaAllah. ACTION CHALLENGE: In an effort to better instill an understanding of this name in our lives, I challenge you all to do at least one of the following today... 1. Take a moment and contemplate on the good someone has done you. Thank Allah for their kindness and make duaa for them. Now TELL that person you appreciate them (The Prophet (saw) says if you do not thank the people, you have not thanked Allah). Whether its in person, by phone, or by text... stop and SHOW YOUR GRATITUDE to this person, as you strive to build this quality into your everyday character. OR 2. Remember that Allah rewards the smallest of deed, whether its a mere smile for your brother/sister, a kind word to your parent, or the *thought* of the good deed that is never carried out. DO SOME SMALL DEED solely for the sake of Allah. You can go donate $2 to Al Maun Fund Charity via paypal; you can go get a cup of juice for your spouse, say a kind word to a friend, feed a stray cat, hug/compliment your child... anything. Just do some small deed for Allahs sake, seeking His pleasure and reward and nothing in return from that person. **If you have not at least watched the supplementary video, I urge you to watch it to get the proper understanding of this beautiful name, it may be more complex and wonderful than you think ;) ** May Allah cause us all to become more appreciative and guide us to a truly profound and correct understanding of this beautiful name.
