So tomorrow will mark 5 years with FRNSW, though when I joined it was NSWFB. I was blessed to join along with Troy - who has since told me I have become his best (female) friend. The feeling is mutual. He coached me through the bloody beep test, has encouraged me always, and I know he is always there for advice, an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on. He is a brilliant firefighter and I am so hoping that he realises his dream of becoming a permo - hope he wont snob me then ;) In that 5 years I have attended car fires, shed fires, garage fires, train fires, house fires, structure fires and some fairly intense bushfires. Bird, cat, dog, horse, child, man under trains rescue. Helicopter down, plane down. Many storm and tempest (rain and wind) calls, trees down, wires down, gas leaks, assist ambos, oil on road, hazmat and the little things - change a smoke alarm battery, check a hydrant, reassure and educate. I have said it before and I am proud to say again that I cant thank enough the men of my crew - Cambo, Steve, Dools, Trevor, Jeffrey, Tony, Nigel, Tony O, Adam, Edward, Glenn, Vance, Leanne (Ben) and recently a sister - Samantha. Never have they doubted that I could do something but on the other hand have never scoffed when I am not able to physically manage something, just stepped in and helped. I know I must annoy them all with my prattling and the fact that I always have my phone in hand, wanting photographic evidence of our adventures. And not to mention my random outbursts of emotion of late!! I love you all...
