So tonight I took a cake at the womens meeting I attend weekly for my first year birthday. Before I became sober, and still, I was always fearful of putting attention on any achievements I had made in my life because there always seemed to be some error happening and Id be embarrassed about it. Because its supposed to be a room full of supportive women, I felt confident nothing odd would happen. Well, I couldnt believe when, after I took my cake and others began to share and congratulate those with achievements, a women who Ive seen in that meeting since day one and who I thought we were friend congratulated me and then proceeded to tell the entire room that when I got in to the rooms I was DARK AND CREEPY. Not broken, not sad and beat up, but DARK AND CREEPY. Can you say, I was embarrassed as Ive certainly never been a DARK and CREEPY individual in my life. I approached her after and she had nothing to say except Well, at least you are better now. Im sorry but that was rude, inappropriate and down right mean spirited. I now have a resentment.
