So tonight was my first late night busk in probably around a year or so, feeling slightly apprehensive I went to Liverpool street happy that at least England won the footy so hoping the commuters would be rowdy but happy! Anyhow as people gathered to watch, some sober, some bleary eyed and worse for wear I remembered that when I use to busk the late nights I often picked up what I would call my drunken angels they would often be a little volatile to people they thought were a threat to me and although these drunken Angels tended to make me feel a little uncomfortable they more often than not were just lost souls in some way who stopped as the music touched something inside them which is why they always tended to feel protective of me.. So back to tonight a drunken angel by the name of Josh stopped to listen to me and asked me over & over to sing electric feel by mgmt ,total tune, but I repeated that I didnt have it everytime he asked! Anyway he then proceeds to dance around a bit, get in my space, stand that little bit too close but I tolerate it as Im feeling hes harmless... Anyway Josh proceeds to tell me hes going to stay with me all night and promote me to which I smile, nod and carry on thinking oh god here we go Josh, to be fair, did have a great time dancing and singing, some people did actually join in but come the end of my set I really had no idea how much his promotion had actually helped or hindered me .. I suspect quite a few people on seeing josh ran as fast as they could in the opposite direction! Ha .. Anyway Josh then tells me that he is accompanying me home. To which I reply no he insists or should I say he just followed me yabbering away about how he needed to make sure I would be safe that he didnt care that he would miss his train he would sleep in the street as long as I was safe.. Hmmmmm there was no escaping him.. So anyway I realised that young drunken Josh was my angel tonight really, although mouthy and protective he was quite sweet really ... saw me to my stop & I saw him into a cab! Poor soul was miles Away from home! Thing is tonight I was feeling a little edgy about travelling home alone, I received a few messages from a particular fan that unnerved me & Josh actually did make me feel safe so thank you my drunken Angels all of you over the years & particularly to young Josh tonight ... #buskingtales
