So tonight was very special as the Madison Blues Society had chosen our own Blythe Gamble as one of the 2 featured artists for the 7th annual Wild Women of the Blues Show, along with Peaches Stanton. Bryan Koening lent his talent to the festivities alongside Blythe to make it a great lineup. The scene was set for a perfect evening. Fair weather, a full house, perfect lighting and the show was on. Blythe was killer. It was clear that was she in her element and simply loving the whole thing. It was a joy to watch. I was a bit busy as I was playing bass at the time, but the whole scene put a smile on my face more than once. Peaches and her band were awesome. They hit hard with tight arrangements and slick grooves and Peaches was the flame on the end of that candle for certain. Not to mention they they were all a wonderful group of people in general and we had a great time shooting the breeze and catching a breath in the green room. One of the highlights of the evening was when Peaches invited Blythe to join her on stage along with Bryan and myself. Blythe and Peaches on stage together was a super treat. And I had a gas playing with Peaches band. Those guys were smokin. What a great bunch of people to get to work for and with. And what a great cause supporting DAIS (Domestic Abuse Intervention Services). A special thanks to Ken Koeppler and Bill Roberts for filling in the blanks and coming through like the champions they are. It was a great show and one hell of a good time.
