So true. Ignoring an issue this huge does not make it go away, it only fuels the problem. If it keeps going at the rate it has it will be past the point of anyones control. Sad thing is people still think thats just being dramatic, when the evidence consistently shows us that we have put record levels of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere, the likes our planet hasnt seen for past 3 million years. An annually increasing level of 9.9 billion metric tonnes of carbon dioxide every year and counting. There is a 40 year delay in climate change. So there is 40 years between cause and effect, it means that average temperatures of the last decade are a result of what we were thoughtlessly putting into the air in the 1970’s. It also means that the true impact of our emissions over the last decade will not be felt until the 2040’s. So all the changes we have already seen; temperatures increasing, sea ice melting, subsequently sea levels rising, oceans acidifying, more frequent and violent weather changes. These are a result of the levels we put into the atmosphere 40 years ago. Where although emissions were high, they were much less than what they are now, and that number is increasing annually, in spite of what we know. If that doesnt scare you then your a moron. Action needs to be taken now, otherwise it will be too late.
