So true. Race and other human qualities are not accomplishments. - TopicsExpress

So true. Race and other human qualities are not accomplishments. I once had a friend that I got to know better over time. Over the years I would find out something about his family and some of their accomplishments throughout life. I recall inquiring one day, "...Why did you not ever tell me these fantastic things about your family?" I recall him looking at me and replying, "...Because I did not do those things, I am merely related to people that did." I never forgot that, and really how enlightened that really is. I often encounter people that spill out their family history and accomplishments in either an effort to offer justification, an apology, or to brag. Which has time and again impacted my life in an attempt to follow the wisdom to embrace the value of individual accomplishment and to view individuals based upon merit. I miss my good friend, he passed away in 2001 at the age of 38. Another friend of mine passed away this past May, we all knew each other. I had a dream with my old friend in it, I recall that we were talking, and I told him that XX had died, and in my dream, I recall him kind of looking at me and replying, "...Yes, I know that." Then I woke up.
