So very frustrated right now. After waiting nearly 3 years, I decided to upgrade my cellphone to a nice Samsung S4. Ordered it at 5pm on Wed and it arrived by noon Thursday. The usual ups and downs with transferring stuff but woohoo it actually gets service where I work when my last one didnt. Today I get a text message that I am no longer eligible for a discount on my family share plan and it will be going up by $15 a month. After paying $79 and being locked into another 2 years with AT&T for which I also paid a $40 upgrade fee (still figuring out why it costs them Anything for this particular thing). However, if I want to return it and purchase it under their ATT Next program, I can keep my monthly rate and pay full price for the phone over an installment plan of 12-30 months which they assure me that even though that will cost me at least $15/month I will somehow be saving money in the long run (like $400 he assures me, obviously he has learned the NEW math that eludes me) AND I will not have to pay an upgrade fee. I can do this by mail or take it to the nearest store and re-purchase it! Then it dawns on me that this is going to happen with the other phones on my plan as soon as they need upgrading. I am inches away from returning it and switching carriers as soon as the contract runs out. I am so loyal that I have NEVER switched companies. I started with BellSouth Mobility 16 years ago which was bought by Cingular which in turn was bought by ATT. I feel like I am Mount St. Helens in early 1980.
