So very true! This is why Alana will never own any of these. Unfortunately she has a Kindle which was given to her as a gift from her father (not my choice, as I had advised AGAINST it), but that Kindle is monitored. She uses it a total of an hour a week. During the school year, she uses it less than that. Social Media will not be a part of her life while she is under my roof. There is no need for it. She attends school where she can be social with her friends. She will not own a phone until she can pay for her own, and even then if she lives with me it will be monitored. People think we are crazy for being so strict with her freedom, but I see what I see in this world, and my daughter will not be raised to be like everyone else. Social norms are nothing but a marketing scam. Its normal for a 4 year to have an iPad, for a 10 year old to own their own cell phone and 13 year old to have their own computer and all of them to have a TV in their room... I think NOT. If you want to raise your children for success, then stop raising them to be like every other kid on the block! #ImDone
