So very, very true! Right now, we, the People, are being distracted and confused because an attorney, for whatever reason, lied on his affidavit, which is his oath, that he spoke the Navajo language fluently. And then he starts campaigning and apologizing for not conversing in the Navajo language because he is learning Navajo. WTH! But no one - except Chris Deschene for sure - knew that because his presidential candidacy oath, like all the other candidacy oaths of all the Navajo political candidates, were filed away by our Navajo Election Office because our Navajo Nation Council/President/Vice President/PUBLIC servants failed to enact laws that publicize ALL information about ALL the political candidates. MAYBE, just maybe, if ALL documents about Political Candidates, Political Officials, esepcially the Navajo Board of Election Supervisor, are electronically posted on the Navajo Election Office website then we, the People, would not be tearing apart each other. I do not support Voting for a Political Candidate because of Age, Gender, Physical Appearance. Come on People, We are in the midst of Climate Change! I asked Mr. Deschene if he would fund the Navajo Green Economy Commission and if he supported a transition to alternative energy from fossil fuels. He said that he would create a team of his people together to come up with a plan. I asked presidential candidate Joe Shirley Jr. and he didnt even bother to give me an answer. And what about Political Campaign Statements that ALL political candidates are mandated to file? We, the People, have the Right to see who are financing ALL political candidates. And now that the Navajo Nation Office of Hearings and Appeals, after several days, had no choice but to disqualify Mr. Deschene because he refused to answer questions, Mr. Deschene completely disrespects the courts - and remember hes an attorney - by encouraging people to vote for him, which is a violation of our Navajo law. And Navajo law also mandates that once a political candidate is disqualified, which means he or she is no longer a political candidate, the Election Office shall stop the current absentee voting so voters are fully informed that a candidate must be removed from the ballots. Yes, Mr. Deschene is appealing the OHA decision to the Navajo Supreme Court, but as an attorney, he knows full well that the Supreme Court will be reviewing all the evidence that went before the OHA, including the sealed deposition of Mr. Deschene that we, the People, didnt see because the doors were closed to the public during that part of the OHA hearing. Before I left the OHA hearing, I asked why the public was being blocked from seeing and hearing evidence involving a very public issue that focused on a very public political candidate. OHA Hearing Offcer Richie Nez said that the attorneys asked that the viewing of Mr. Deschenes video taped deposition be behind closed doors. Mr. Deschene says that he passed the Navajo language fluency test when more than 9,000 people voted for him...Maybe thats the new way to waive Navajo law. Just get 9,000 of the 350,000 Navajo people to vote...
