So we Pentecostals are not the only ones who do this eh? You can now imagine how steeped in this mystical modality these people are. It, like Pentecostalism, is both cultural and cultic, but very real to its adherents. Cultism is described as a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure, object or ideology. It is often a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person, religious belief or discipline. My comments are not a criticism as much as an observation. All organized and institutionalized belief systems can be categorized as cults, including Christianity, which is basically a cult following of Jesus. I was born and raised in the cults and remain an adherent to some of its teachings. Realizing this does not necessary demean as much as explain it and its sometimes rigorous dogma. There is mystery and reality beyond any and all religious excesses. Weve as much to learn and perhaps to unlearn. What say you?
