So we are back from our walk in town. It is very much what I would imagine a northern Arctic community to be - beautiful village situated in a tiny harbour - and up the mountain behind the main area, several snow fences and a tree line - I am guessing because it looks like a good place for an avalanche. Quite warm - 5 degrees or so outside. We went on a search for a card for my camera - the search bore interesting fruit - no card of my type available, but the very kind gentleman in the electronic and appliance store transferred all my photos to a CD, and cleared the card, for a really nominal fee. Meanwhile, Kathi and I went into a beautiful cafe for a cup of coffee and a Norwegian waffle with strawberry jam and creme fraiche. So we are sitting and reading - and in an hour or so will be sailing to the next port and our Sami experience.
