So we came back home Saturday. Doctors have no explanation for the severe headache, but kept Riley on a slow morphine through today. They stopped the morphine today, so were keeping a close eye to him to see if the headache reoccurs. Theyve kept him on a high dose of decadron, which has been making him outrageously hungry. They lowered his dosage yesterday, so we actually got more than 2 hours of sleep at a time last night. His kidneys seem to be healing so he is actually starting get some of the phosphorous he needs from the food he is eating, but he is still on an iv infusion and 4 oral doses a day. We will find out later this week if he will need to continue past this week on the mirapenem (antibiotic) any longer, or if he needs to continue for another 3 weeks. In some ways, it was much easier having him at the hospital where they gave him all the meds! Thanks goodness for the hospice folks who are helping us keep it all straight...so nice to have them to rely on! If all is looking good, Riley will start his first round of chemo next Monday -- hell get an oral dose of 250 mg of temoxifin for five days, then we wait for 25 days before the next one. Im not sure how often we do MRIs to see if the chemo is making a difference...I guess that will be a whole new learning curve. Meanwhile, spirits are high and we are working with Riley on his newly returned movement in his right arm!
