So, we expect the American worker to be responsible, self-reliant, - TopicsExpress

So, we expect the American worker to be responsible, self-reliant, provide for the family and himself with food, shelter and healthcare, and also NOT be on public support. However, if he is working 2 and 3 jobs at minimum wages and still not even able to pay the rent and buy food, something is seriously wrong with the system. Does he work for a small business barely making ends meet itself? Then maybe this is understandable, but that is not usually the case. Actually, the majority of minimum wage workers most likely work for a multi-billion dollar corporation that sees the employee as expendable rather than an asset. The coporations main concern is profits and more profits. The coporation deliberately pays slave wages in order to captutre ALL the profits for itself and its shareholders. This is not an ethical business practice or even sustainable for long term. The American public, the taxpayers, do not want to subsidize the corporations employees with public services and support when the corporation is just practicing GREED. The American public can chose to patronize responsible corporations who treat their employees with respect and honor their service with decent wages. In the long run, the corporations would be accorded respect and sales would increase because of public support. What a utopian idea................jerry
