So we got a release date today for the new widescreen HD version of The Wire: All seasons will be available for download on January 5--so just in time for my annual re-watching of the series. I’m definitely excited to see how the series looks after the transfer. Read David Simon’s post below to see how much time and thought went into making the transition (it’s long and has spoilers--probably only interesting to uber-fans). But if I’m being honest, I wish they would also release the original 4:3 frame version in HD. Hopefully they will someday.
