So we got notice about 12 last night that Jon Davids lung scope would be today. So I was thankful that we can get right on it and not wait till Tuesday. Ive just felt an urgency to get this stuff out of his lungs.....its been long enough. Our day started bright and early with a 6:30 visit from Dr. Delap. She was not happy with the sound of his lungs and was going to consult with Dr. Kiser and Dr. Homsi. So In case youve lost track........we have an infection specialist (Delap) a physiarist ( Kiser) and Pulmonary (Homsi), along with the Hospitalist, the hospitals doctor and then the Pulmonary Dr. (Minton)......at least thats all we have so far....... So while we were waiting for time confirmation we got a surprise visit from Arthur Bennett. Love this man and his leadership and love for Arkansas Baptist. Only been able to see him twice since this nightmare started, but always knew he was in the background and would help with anything we needed.....and everyone needs friends like that. So after a good visit with him, they came for Jon David and we had a sweet surprise and loving friendly face to great us down in the procedure room.....Tammie Jackson! So thats always a comfort to have someone you know and trust in a scary place like that. The procedure was less that 30 min. But you could tell our doctor was pretty shocked that Jon Davids left lung was so clogged, because the X-ray and CT done on Friday had not indicated the mess that he has found. He said it was so thick that he had to inject fluid to thin everything so he could get it out. Even then he said we will have to come back in a week or so to have it done again, because he could not get it all. The right lung was also cleaned out but was not near as bad. He sent off to have cultures done so we know exactly what we are dealing with and what kind of antibiotic to use. I dont know if most people know this, but when cultures are done on infections, not only do they come back and tell you what specific infection you have, the lab will also tell you what antibiotics will and will NOT work for you. Im guessing that the antibiotic that we have now been on for 21 days......is NOT working. We got back to the room around 12:30-1 and Jon David rested the rest of the day. We had some great visitors today, Lisa Crow, Shelly Newkirk, Calvin and Betsy Hagan and Tiago Lewis . Tiago is the uncle of one of the players (DC) , of Jon Davids high school basketball team. Anytime we have a test or X-ray at Baptist ( he works in the nuclear lab) and he knows we are here, he comes to find us and we are ALWAYS comforted by and love seeing him. Its always wonderful to know that you have dear friends thinking of you and we were touched by their visits today! So I get the feeling that Jon David is thinking we are going home soon. But Im thinking that we havent gotten any real answers yet and this is not resolved. Im not leaving till it is. And thats not easy to say, because believe me I am ready to be home. I think once we get test results hopefully the treatment path will be a lot clearer........please pray with us about that. Im nervous that we have not been able to do any PT in about 5 weeks now......thats not good for Jon Davids body. Weve been in touch with all of our therapists and most of them have been up to check on Jon David.....Im grateful that they truly care about him. But we need to get going again. I think this lung infection has been around for a long long time.....this time Im gonna make sure it is completely gone. Please pray for Doug Boydston Family, the owners of Mayflower RV. They lost their business in the tornado and today Doug lost his life trying to clean up that mess when the tractor he was on overturned. Also please continue to pray that Beverly Carter will be found alive. I cant imagine the hell her family is going through. For my sweet Jon David, who is mightier than all of us, pray for strength and endurance and the knowledge that Gods arms are wrapped tightly around him at all times........Dave and I could use that reminder also.
