So we have all been waiting for this trailer. And I am SO disappointed at how #JurassicWorld is probably just going to be another Hollywood monster film: A lab creates a genetically modified creature, superior, smarter, stronger than anything else. A killer machine. It runs away and now the world is in danger. You dont even get to see the creature in the first half of the movie, just a claw, a tooth, an eye between leafs. And a trail of disaster behind it, as our heros try to catch up with it. In the third quarter of the movie you get monster CGI extravaganza and see the whole thing, the 3d work on the skin details is so amazing and the movement is so fantastically fluid, making the creature look so hyperrealistic that in the end it just looks fake. In the last quarter of the movie new surprising aspects show up, for example it also spits fire, or it has a nest with babies—but oh wow, how did it multiply, if there is only 1 of them?—The scientist in the group explains about parthenogenesis and the New Mexico whiptail lizard that can reproduce without fertilisation. Teenagers in the audience go WTF, that exists in the real world?. In the last 10 minutes of the movie, the only 3 survivors—our hero, this girl they almost showed him banging in the midst of some disaster and this kid they teamed up with on the way—find some magical way to kill the creature, for example by throwing water on it or injecting it with some syringe they find in an abandoned lab. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, one of the scientists on the team that created the creature revolted and hid himself in a secret lab to create an antidote. He had known what was going to happen and had warned everybody, but no one had listened. Tada! Deus ex machina, the world is saved. It is now sunrise. Fades to black. A slightly modified version of the original soundtrack—which they teased you by not playing during the entire movie—plays. Closing credits roll. The end. People pull out their phones and realise that Kim Kardashian did something. Movie forgotten. I wonder. Where did the magic go?
