So we start this evening... My first thought is to share with my fellow males who are about progressive gender politics. We dont need to jump out in front and make all the noise. We can take on MRAs and make strong arguments without talking over women and shrinking their presence. To do that is actually antithetical to the goals in mind when taking such action. If we are invited to make some noise, then we ought to go right ahead and burn some shit down, but if not, we can pipe down a bit or create a parallel space to push the ideas and present the arguments. It also doesnt help if at every turn we get belligerent with males who arent convinced by us or who have never heard any of these ideas before. That behavior doesnt help. It hurts. Now... Dear White Homies/Allies I understand that to become aware of some of the issues that have really gained light in the past 3 years can really light a fire under your feet, but sometimes you gotta chill. What we dont need is knee jerk reactionaries blowing up the spot and pushing away moderates and potential collaborators. If another white person is unaware of the historical context of something they said or believe, thats an opportunity to tell them about it. Its not an opportunity to shout them down If another white person is a fan of a black celebrity, it is not your place to tell them they are objectifying this famous person of whom a large part of their job is to be attractive. We dont need you blocking out and ostracizing people for us. We arent interested in ideological separatism. This is open for discussion. Phoenix and I are going to be doing this all week and appreciate input and feedback
