So, we went down to the Road Kill Cook-Off and...were disappointed. Only five guys showed up to cook. Three used venison and 2 used chicken, only 1 guy had the factual meat on his advertising sign. Others had stuff like muskrat, opossum, crow on their labels, but the labels lied. Like I said, we were very disappointed. If they host this again next year, we’re going to enter as cooks and bring raccoon curry. Oh, yes we will. Robin and I tried everything, but all but the venison stroganoff were very mediocre and I just couldn’t get over the fact that everyone else was lying. We couldn’t even take home some to gross out the husband with. As we were driving back to Coffeyville, we started feeling really badly about that...right up until we passed by a BBQ roadside stand. So, armed with a Styrofoam box full of unrecognizable BBQ and a Road Kill Cook-Off t-shirt, we gave the hubby his lunch and told him it was opossum sausage, ground muskrat, pulled armadillo and wild boar ribs. lol He’s giving us highly suspicious looks and says he’ll try a little of everything, but I have a feeling I won’t be able to hold this straight face long enough to convince him of what he’s eating. Or, rather, what he’s not!
