So, were still here... Not a lot has changed since Sunday. Weve for sure confirmed the UTI. Liver and blood are clear. Still waiting on the Winter panel, for grins, to see what kind of viruses, if any, we might be dealing with. Two days of the same means we were able to identify some unwanted patterns and start fixing those first. Right now were working on decreasing the amount of secretions and using more direct methods of comforting her tummy. So far so good this evening. Shes had a lot less congestion and a lot less yuck draining from her tummy. Weve seen a few little peaks at smiles - especially during shakey vest (how is that not a technical term?!) - but shes still not nearly as alert as she was earlier in the weekend! Sweet Potato is able to stay out of ICU because shes a rock star and is breathing wonderfully on her own - her sats are hanging out in the mid 90s, her temp has been normal and in general she pretty stable! Tomorrow is looking like a more realistic possibility for getting her regular maintenance meds and some fluids and maybe even some milk in her tummy! Everything that can be given by IV has been given by IV for the last two days, but we are still lacking a few meds that help keep her comfy (like muscle relaxers for spastic arms and legs). Yesterday we had a brief visit from big sister. Edie gets too excited about things like giant stair cases and giant concrete balls to be visiting much with mom and sister. We each got at least 5 hugs though! Today we had lots more visitors, which is another nice thing about not being in the PICU - more visitors allowed! And free coffee! Now that we have a better idea of what Sue is dealing with and are making a little progress, well try to keep everyone better updated! Thank you for all of your prayers and support!
