So, what do you have for your traditional Christmas dinner? KFC?? Did you know that in Japan, KFC is the traditional Christmas meal? In the 1970s KFC decided to get into the Chinese and Japanese markets. With some very brilliant marketing moves they were wildly successful at establishing themselves in both China and Japan. In the early 1970s KFC launched a marketing campaign that proved to be among the most successful in the history of marketing: Kentucky for Christmas. Fast forward thirty plus years and today in Japan KFC is considered a traditional Christmas dinner. Since only about 1% of the population is Christian, Christmas is not a religious holiday in Japan. However, the holiday has grown in popularity in recent decades. Sadly, the worst aspects (in my opinion) of the Western holiday seem to be the most popular in Japan. Light displays that would make Clark Griswold jealous, exchanging of gifts and never ending sales at stores have turned the Christian holiday into a semi-romantic gift day that is capped with a celebratory meal from KFC. Its a crazy world, someone ought to sell tickets, heck, Id buy two. https://youtube/watch?v=umHfb1JHovA .
