So, what do you say to the person who carried you? What words express your gratitude to the person that fed you, dressed you (often comically), patched up your wounds and, when you deserved it, administered the punishment ( the wooden spoon). What do you say to the person who always seems to be there, ready to help or,,., just to talk? What do you tell the person, who, in the very worst hour of likely the worst year of her life- called and bravely, gently and tearfully said, Shaun, your father has died- and then apologized for having delivered the message? The same person then stood up during tempest that followed and showed you what it means to be graceful, tough, Christian. How do you say that you feel proud, that it is strangely comforting to have people say so, youre Pattys boy or you look like your mom? What do you say that says it all- knowing its not enough- yet knowing that anything would be appreciated? I dont know the answer. I wont tire of trying to find one. Until then Ill just say- thank you, mom. I love and cherish you. Happy 75th. Your loving son, Shaun
