So what exactly is the effects of exercise training on Diabetes and how exactly does exercise lower blood glucose levels?? Well today youre going to learn all about it!! I cannot emphasize enough that exercise is an ESSENTIAL component of Diabetes care!! An exercise training programme has the full potential to provide numerous benefits to those with Diabetes. And these benefits are vast, as I previously mentioned! So, Im going on and on about the benefit... But what are they?? And how exactly do they apply to Diabetes?? Well first of all exercise can result in the possible improvement of blood glucose control. Exercise should especially be part of Diabetes therapy (in conjunction with diet and medication) to improve blood glucose control for those with type 2 Diabetes. Exercise is however not necessarily considered as a component of treatment for those with type 1 Diabetes, but is rather encouraged as a method to gain other benefits such as improving cardiovascular health. Exercise training can also result in improved insulin sensitivity, and for many with Diabetes this translates into the reduction in dose of insulin needed or oral medication requirements. And of course we all know exercise results in the reduction of body fat, weight loss then in turn increases insulin sensitivity and may once again lower medication requirements. Furthermore, exercise offers a wide range of cardiovascular benefits, and we all know whats good for our hearts are sure as hell good for us!! It has also been shown that exercise may actually lead to the prevention of type 2 Diabetes, pretty amazing right?! Studies have shown that those suffering from gestational Diabetes, or those that have a family history of type 2 Diabetes may especially benefit from regular exercise! Nearly everyone with Diabetes can derive some benefits from an exercise program! Time to claim yours!! diabetes.org/food-and-fitness/fitness/get-started-safely/blood-glucose-control-and-exercise.html
