So, what has been the highlight of my trip so far? Easy; it’s the mindset of the Jewish people. You would not know how blessed you already are, just by knowing Jesus. Most of the Jews out here don’t even know Jesus, PERIOD. What some do know however, is that they and are still expecting his first coming. Wow!!!! Now I understand Paul in Romans chapter 10, “Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” Now, why do you think a lot of Jews have not accepted Jesus? It’s simply because they don’t have the Bible you have. They have the "TANAKH", - an Acronym, based on the letters T (for "Torah" or the first five books of Moses), N (for "Neviim," the Prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah Daniel etc ), and K (for "Ketuvim," the Sacred Writings or Psalms proverbs etc). Their main Bible is just the Torah portion of the Tanakh. The Neviim and the Ketuvim are just optional books for them to read. In the synagogue, they would only study the Torah and maybe read a little portion of the prophets and psalms. So this is what I saw clearly, on one hand you have the Jews with the Torah and on the other hand you have the Christians with the Bible including the Gospels. To shake hands, you will need the prophets, because they are the bridge between the Torah and the Gospel. One thing I am very impressed with is their knowledge of the Torah; it’s very outstanding. I asked one saved Jew this question; “how come you know Jesus and your friend over there don’t?” He was very humbled to tell me that if all the Jews have access to the books of the prophets, they would receive the gospel. Please, let’s be like Paul and continue to pray for the Jews.
