So when it was first leaked that the iPhone 6 would be 4.7 in contrast to the 5s 4, I was not happy. As Ive mentioned before, I already have a big iPhone; its called an iPad Mini. So yesterday, Alia and Skye wanted to go shopping at the Mall so while they were doing their thing, I went into the Apple Store to handle the 6 for the first time. At this point, its academic because my contracts not up until later next year. So 2 big conclusions: 1 - It just doesnt feel that much bigger. Part of the reason is that it has a depth of 6.9 mm while the 5s has a depth of 7.6 mm. I put one in my pocket and it felt fine. The new size is just no big deal. So I think Ill enjoy the additional real estate. However, 2 - My iPhone 5s is a prettier phone! It just is. It actually has a side which is beautifully beveled. Its darker. Its a phone that I love carrying around because its just a lovely piece of tech. Im sure that when its time for me to upgrade next year, I will like the better camera that will come with the 6s, the faster processor, etc. But - until then - Im actually quite content to carry and use my 5s. Im old enough that I graduated from college without ever having typed a paper on a computer. Im old enough that the first computer I purchased when I was getting my Masters had no hard drive, no Windows OS, and two 5.25 floppy disk drives. I remember when YOU COULDNT WAIT until the next microprocessor would come out because it would be TONS faster than you last computer. Now, computers are fast enough and - quite frankly - I dont even track processor improvements anymore. I buy a new computer when my old one dies, rather than jumping to buy one AS SOON as it comes out. I could be wrong, but i think mobile phones today are where computers and laptops were in the early 90s. Eventually, I dont believe there will be this mass desire to instantly upgrade to the latest in the future; what we have will be fine. I suspect there will come the point where we will ask, How much faster of a smartphone do we really need? https://apple/iphone-6/
