So while Im very politically focused (hey, who knew?) Im typically very happy to analyze policy, share opinions and perspectives -and when I can provide (very small) resources and funding for specific campaigns. Quietly and in the background. This afternoon, uncharacteristically -Im opening my home for a gathering and fundraiser for Senator Jeff Merkley. There are a small percentage of Congressional candidates (lets change that) -that I consider to be working toward societal outcomes that balance a growing economy with environmental protection, resource conservation and stewardship of our commons. Candidates that are working to strengthen social security, make education and healthcare affordable, fund programs for our veterans, respect human rights and evolve government toward accountability and transparency. There are key House and Senate races that will be decided in November -and Im going to do all that I can to shape a Congress that will represent the will of the American people (and not just the wealthiest Americans and corporations). While life is challenging, busy and uncertain -I am convinced that the policies that have led to a wide abyss between those that have -and those that dont are weakening America -and rapidly diminishing the quality of all of our lives. Many of my friends are already politically active -but for those that arent -lets look at the upcoming elections as though our future depended upon it. Because our future does.
