So why am I posting everything I have found to Facebook (and I realize it will look backwards since it scrolls from new to old ... maybe scroll down a bit)? First, these people need to be recognized. They gave their life for whatever reason they felt compelled to fight for. Secondly, I have exhausted all outlets of getting the public this knowledge. Ive known about this for over a month. First I contacted the Historical Society and the Daily News. The News seemed interested in a story for Veterans Day, but they finally informed me they wanted to talk to the Historical Society about this. I have yet to hear back, even after numerous emails. I then contacted the mayor, but I was told this was not their issue and to contact the County Commissioners. A few more run arounds and I was finally given the number of a nice gentleman representing the local VFW. He said hed present the info next time they meet locally. So here I am. The information is now yours to do with as you see fit. I am willing to meet with anyone or discuss this anyone who would like to see what I have found. I will continue to bang on doors to make sure these soldiers get the respect they deserve. I will also continue to search for those soldiers who I dont yet have proof for. In the end, I dont expect a complete remodel of the memorial, but something needs to be done, if only its a little sign in the courthouse lawn or a post to Facebook from someone who just wants to make this right.
