So yesterday I run into a nice couple on my local trail ride, and they saw me coming out from a place they thought had no trails. I told them there was about a 1.7 km loop and showed them around. It is rooty in there with a couple of log overs and one pretty big one at an angle to the trail and immediately followed by a short bridge. You have to get this spot on and it is doable. It is way harder as it is getting dark and completely leaf covered. When they got to this, they said someone needs to come by with a saw and get that out of the way. I had to really contain myself and explained that some of us like it the way it is. I even showed them how to get over it though it was not pretty. They could see it could be done and immediately changed their tune to maybe having a ride around. I pointed out no ready route for that as the terrain does not allow it. I just had never heard that type of thinking first hand like that. I showed them two small stunts we built over muddy sections which are basically a lot of logs carefully placed side by side with a little elevation and explained all the work that goes into that. It was a little disconcerting though to hear the quick jump to removing obstacles.
