So yesterday afternoon about to get in my car to pick up a friend - TopicsExpress

So yesterday afternoon about to get in my car to pick up a friend and go to a class...my car was in the parking space in front of my cafe... I was at the front of the vehicle when I suddenly hear a bang. Whipped my head around toward the sound to see a car turning its front end into the forward end of the right rear fender of my 1999 black VW GLS Beatle, as this car is backing out of the space next to me....I give a yell then watch in horror as the driver continues to reverse while turning which now extends the scraping across my tire and wheel well and then onto the rear part of the fender. I continue yelling STOP! STOP! and she only stopped backing out when I charged like a crazy woman over to her car. Had I not been there...she would have continued on...leaving the scene of this accident. Turns out to be three young women visiting from Japan, in a Nissan Altima rental car ... which was the biggest car I have driven claimed the driver. Thankfully the driver spoke fairly good English...and had gotten insurance on the rental. We began the tedious task of calling insurance companies...the Budget Rental Car ins was not open! You can only make a claim to the mainland between 8-5 central time! WHAT? The local branches only give you a phone number but do say...get a police report...as did my island agent. Called the police...then waited nearly two hours! Called police line twice during that time...they said the cops were busy. OhhKaaay...for two freakin hours!!!! The officer said we did not have to file a report as there were no injuries (except to my Beetle who had never been injured in over 14 years!) He said all we had to do by law was to exchange informatio...and that the insurance companies tell us get a police report because they want the cops to do THEIR job!! Hmmmmm... wonder why we waited for two hours? Now, lets add some insult to injury...After the three ladies waited in my sweet little cafe all this time, after I nicely made all the phone calls and offered the coolness and hospitality of my cafe...and maintained my composure around the perpetrators of my poor little car...once the police report got done, and they said good bye and sorry that they took up my time (!)..never once apologizing for the damage to my car...they then proceeded to walk next door and order food and drinks from my neighboring food establishment before leaving! HOLY SHAZAAM!! RIDDLE ME THIS BATMAN....
